How to Make an Embroidered Yarn Rainbow Cookie
"Embroidery" is one of my favorite techniques for decorating cookies. In this post, I share my tips and tricks so that you can create your own beautiful yarn rainbow cookie that looks like it's actually been embroidered!
Other than a steady hand and loads of patience, I share with you the two keys to getting all those tiny lines and lots of detail: icing consistency and piping tip size.
The icing consistency should be about the consistency of toothpaste - it will form a soft peak that curls back over but doesn’t flow back into itself.
The piping tip should be as small as possible that will still allow a steady line of icing.
Both of these tips are covered in the first 2:00 of the video below.
Recipes:
Royal icing in piping and flood consistency
Supplies:
Yarn rainbow cookie cutter (can use any rainbow or basic shape)
Scribe tool or toothpick
Turntable (optional, but nice to have)
Food marker (optional - to mark the lines of the rainbow)
